Kensington is a close-in suburb of Washington, D.C. located just eight miles from the Nation’s Capitol. Residents love the small town feel but enjoy proximity to the city. Kensington is comprised of The Town of Kensington along with those households served by the Kensington Post Office (20895). Kensington primarily offers single-family homes and is known for its Victorian architecture.

Commuting is easy with quick access to the Beltway, Connecticut Avenue, and other major arteries. Public transit options include the Kensington station for the MARC commuter train, nearby Metrorail Red Line stations including Grosvenor. Metrobus and Ride On bus are also available. All three airports, BWI, Regan National, and Dulles, are within reach.

Kensington is home to a terrific Antique Row, which draws shoppers from around the area. Residents enjoy a Saturday morning farmer’s market in the Town along with a Safewat and many small shops, cafés and restaurants. Kensington offers gardens, playing fields and parks including Rock Creek Regional Park, a local favorite for hiking and biking along scenic Beach Drive.

There are two neighborhood libraries, Noyes Library for Young Children and Kensington Park. Kensington is served by the Montgomery County Public Schools.
