Silver Spring Transit Center Opens Sunday (Finally)!

The Silver Spring Transit Center will finally open this Sunday, September 20th. Buses will begin using the new facility at 4am on Sunday. Much-delayed and over-budget – there’s no ribbon-cutting planned. “No pomp and circumstance. It will just open,” said Metro spokeswoman Sherri Ly told the Washington Post.

Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker told WTOP, “Bus riders probably ought to allow themselves a little extra time to figure out exactly where to go. I’ve been through a tour of the Transit Center and it’s a very large facility. It’ll take a little while to figure out exactly where to go.”

The transit center will be a major hub connecting local, regional and commuter buses to Metrorail and eventually the Purple Line.

Refresh, Renovate or Relocate?

Do you love your home and neighborhood but feel like you’ve run out of space? Do you renovate and build an addition, or move to a home that “has it all”?  Many times homeowners aren’t sure what options are realistic. Then comes the nitty gritty, how do you best finance your dream home or renovation?

Cari lives in Silver Spring’s Woodmoor neighborhood and undertook a home renovation and addition about five years ago. As a local Realtor, she also regularly counsels homeowners in area neighborhoods (think Woodmoor, Highland View, Indian Spring, and Four Corners) who are considering major renovation projects. Cari has gathered several experts who will be on hand to answer your specific questions and help you weigh your options:

  • Paul Dickie, Owner – Winfield Builders

Go Brent Team Winter Clothing Drive

photo (5)

It was amazing how warm it was yesterday — it was downright balmy. Well that warmth was certainly gone today. This cold and rainy day was a reminder of last year’s dreary winter, which was the impetus for Go Brent Team’s winter clothing drive. We kicked off our annual drive last month and it’s well underway. We’ve already dropped off dozens of coats, hats, boots and more. Our recipients are A Wider Circle and MCPS Linkages to Learning programs at Pine Crest/Montgomery Knolls ES, Broad Acres ES and Silver Spring International MS.

We are still collecting gently used or new winter items. If you have items to donate, message us on Facebook or send us an email. You can leave items on your doorstep and one of our team members will swing by to pick up! Since both A Wider Circle and Linkages to Learning support the entire family, we can accept any winter items ranging from infant to adult sizes.

We’ll continue collecting donations through January in an effort to keep our neighbors warm!
