Call 311 for Montgomery County Bulk Trash Pickup

Down in the Dumps? Pick (Me) Ups Await!

Don’t waste another minute storing your junk! Whether you are remodeling, moving, or didn’t quite get rid of all that junk from your spring-cleaning, you are in luck. Every Montgomery County resident receives 5 bulk trash pickups per year.

You may be wondering what qualifies as bulk trash. Essentially, it is any item that is too large for your trash bin (i.e. furniture, appliances, rugs, and mattresses). No bulk trash? Just scrap metal? Don’t despair. The County provides curbside pickup for both scrap metal and bulk trash.

Scheduling a pickup has never been easier. Order online or call 311 the day before your trash collection. Just make sure your trash and scrap metal are at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day!

For more information on Bulk Trash/Scrap Metal pickup, please visit Montgomery County’s website.

Protecting Your Basement

It’s a special time of year! Azaleas are out, the heat and A/C are off, and windows are open. That’s means…It’s dehumidifier time!

Yes, we need to talk dehumidifiers people. Not as exciting as the azaleas in bloom or the savings in your utility bills, but a very important topic nonetheless. We’ve had a lot of rain, and even if you’ve been lucky and haven’t had any water seepage, you can bet you’ve got a higher level of moisture in the lower level than most times of year. Unless you’ve got a basement that is mostly above ground and there is no moisture intrusion at all (meaning you keep your gutters clean, the downspouts are extended and there is good positive grade around the foundation), you’ve got a breeding ground for moisture and mold. Some dehumidifiers fill up every day until the air dries out some.

So first step – get a dehumidifier! Next step, address any moisture concerns. Need help or advice?  Contact us: info@GoBrentTeam.com or 301.565.2523.

February Snow Days

February 26th, 2014.

I am not sure why so many Mid-Atlantic grown ups are complaining about the weather. Their kids are not. The kids love the snow. School delays (ok, today MCPS may have missed a good opportunity for a delayed start), sledding, cocoa, lots of movies, etc.

It is FEBRUARY, people. If you want to complain about the weather, save it for March.  March is never a good month in DC, either, so prepare yourself. March is wet, gray, muddy, ugly. February is cold but it is white and it is predictable.
